This calculator is a guide. The result your school or exam board publishes is the one that counts.

How it is calculated

Multiply each mark out of 20 by its coefficient, add everything up, then divide by the total of the coefficients: moyenne = Σ(mark × coefficient) ÷ Σ(coefficients). A subject with coefficient 4 counts four times as much as one with coefficient 1.

You pass with 10 out of 20. The mentions shown are the French ones (Code de l’éducation, art. D334-11 for the bac): Assez bien from 12, Bien from 14, Très bien from 16 and Très bien with the jury’s congratulations from 18. In France, a bac average between 8 and 10 gives the right to the second group of exams (rattrapage). The French brevet uses the same thresholds on 20 since 2026. In Cameroon, the decree on the baccalauréats sets the same pass mark and the mentions Passable (10), Assez bien (12), Bien (14) and Très bien (16), with no mention at 18.

Coefficients change with the exam, the series and the year. In Cameroon, the presets for séries C, D and A4 use the official class coefficients of Arrêté 92/22/MINESEC (your school report average). The BAC and Probatoire exam coefficients are set by other texts we could not read online, and we found no official BEPC table, so for the exams enter the coefficients on your convocation. For the French brevet, the presets use the official 2026 coefficients of the final exams; the brevet’s final mark is then 60 % this exam average and 40 % your school-year (contrôle continu) average.

Questions people ask

How do I calculate my average with coefficients?

Multiply each mark by its coefficient, add the results and divide by the sum of the coefficients. Example: 12 (coef 4) and 15 (coef 2) give (48 + 30) ÷ 6 = 13.

What average do I need for a mention?

In France: 12 for Assez bien, 14 for Bien, 16 for Très bien and 18 for Très bien with the jury’s congratulations. Other countries may use different rules, so check your exam office.

Where do I find the coefficients for the BAC in Cameroon?

They depend on your series (A, C, D, E, TI…). The class coefficients (school report) are in Arrêté 92/22/MINESEC, used by the presets above; the exam coefficients are on your convocation.
